Interview With GlamWithDarcey: The Self Taught MUA Slaying The Makeup Game
Glam With Darcey is a 14 year old self taught makeup artist who shares her looks with her 134 thousand Instagram followers. Darcey was thrilled when we offered her the opportunity to be interviewed on Miss Makeup. Have a read below to see what she said about her favourite celebrity makeup, the best makeup brands and more.
1. How old were you when you first began experimenting with makeup and what inspired you to do so?
I was around 12 when I first started experimenting with makeup, my best friend was really into it but I wasn’t so keen, one day she was doing her makeup and said Darcey why don’t you try? And at the time I was completely against it, I thought it was fake and covers natural beauty but I started following along with what she was doing, and I fell in love with it!
2. Being so young how do you balance your schoolwork and Instagram page?
The balance of school work and filming is one of my biggest challenges of having a beauty account on Instagram. I’m currently doing my GCSES so the amount of work I’m having to do is massive, at weekends I try to film as many videos as I can so then I can post them during the week, and if I have time film after school.
3. Which celebrities inspire your makeup looks?
Definitely the Kardashians. Their makeup looks are so chic and glam, yet not too over the top which I love, Kim’s makeup artist, Mario, is my all time favourite makeup artist.
4. What was the first high end makeup product you ever bought?
The first high end makeup item I bought was the MAC cosmetics prep and prime spray, I still to this day don’t know why I bought it; I had no idea what it was or what I was doing.
5. What is your favourite makeup look you have ever done?
My favourite makeup look I’ve ever done had got to be the pink skies look I did, I painted clouds and a pink sky onto my face and did a matching eyeshadow look, I loved it so much, I never wanted to take it off.
6. If you were given an unlimited supply of makeup from any brand what would it be and why?
That’s such a difficult question! I love so many brands but I think if I had to choose one it would have to be Huda Beauty. Huda’s products are such amazing quality and I love using them, I also struggle to purchase them in England as we don’t have the store ‘Sephora’.
7. What advice would you give other MUA's trying to grow their following on Instagram?
Be patient! The views and followers come after time, you can’t expect it to all happen so soon, I’ve had my account for nearly 2 years now. Also make sure you use your time wisely! If you ever have spare time at home practise your makeup or film a video! Also don’t invest in an expensive camera to begin with, a phone camera works fine!
