Kylie Cosmetics Lipstick Review: Swatches and Try On

I have wanted to make an order on Kylie Cosmetics since the site first opened (and crashed) in 2015. I was intrigued by the idea of having the 'perfect Kylie lip' that would be achieved by using the brand's lip liner and liquid lipstick set. I finally got the chance to order from Kylie Cosmetics and will be telling you my thoughts on the products and which ones are worth buying

Here's what I ordered

Mattes:

- KYLIE Lip Kit

- Khlo$ (from the Koko Kollection)

- Birthday Suit

- Naked

- Bare

- Commando

Velvets

- French Kiss (from the Kourt X Kylie Collection)

- Commando

Ok to start with the KYLIE Lip Kit was the only lipstick I ordered that also came with a lip liner.

It is described as a 'soft dusty rose' on the website but looking at it in the bottle mine looks hot pink.

The lipstick swatches nicely but still looks very bright compared to the picture on the website. I also swatched the lip liner which felt really creamy and looked pigmented.

This was one of the first lipsticks that Kylie Jenner released which had a lip liner that was slightly darker than the liquid lipstick.

When applying the lipliner it took a few tries to get the pigment out of the pencil but it glided across my lips and felt very comfortable. The lipstick applied well and it only took a few seconds to dry down.

You definitely only need a few swipes as the lipstick is rich in colour. The shade still looks very different to the colour advertised so I would be wary of that if you are looking for a natural rosy colour.

Final Thoughts: I really like the way the product applies and looks after it has dried down. The only real issue I have is how bright the shade is compared to the image on the Kylie Cosmetics image but other than that I would definitely recommend this lip kit especially for the lip liner.

Next I tried on the matte liquid lipsticks. Each of these lipsticks came on their own and were not part of a lip kit except for Bare, Commando (matte), Birthday Suit and Naked which were a part of a set of 4 in the Vacation Collection. Have a look at how they look on and the swatches below...

Birthday Suit: This shade meets the websites description of being a 'nude warm beige'. It is usually hard for me to find a beige lipstick that compliments my pale complexion but I liked this lipstick.

Overall I give it a 7/10

Naked: For a lipstick so beige in the packaging I was pleasantly surprised by the rosy undertone. It is a great option if you feel that 'Birthday Suit' is too orange and 'Bare' is too pink.

Overall I give it a 7 ½ /10

Bare: This is my absolute favourite lipstick out of all the Kylie Cosmetics lipsticks I have tried. It was rosy nude shade that would suit any skin tone.

Overall I give it a 10/10

Commando: This lipstick was a natural nude which had a brown undertone. I personally preferred this shade to the two other beige nude lipsticks in the set.

Overall I give it a 8/10

Khlo$: I was very excited when this collection came out because of this lipstick. When trying it on it was a bit more brown than I had expected but that didn't take away from the nude colour of the shade. I would recommend this shade for anyone who is looking for a natural everyday look.

Overall I give it a 8/10

Now for the velvet lipsticks. I do prefer Kylie's velvets over her mattes because they feel more moisturizing and comfortable on my lips.

French Kiss: I found this lipstick to look alot peachier on my lips than it did in the swatch and in the bottle. Although this is not my favourite of the lipsticks I purchased I do think it is great for spring.

Overall I give it a 7/10

Commando: I liked the velvet version of this shade more than the matte version because it feels more pigmented and looked a lot nicer when it wasn't dried down.

Overall I give it a 8/10

Other Points

- All of the lipsticks smell amazing! They have a sweet vanilla scent

- You get a lot of lipstick for the price

- Be aware that the colour that is advertised may not be the same as the actual colour

- Try to make large orders to reduce shipping costs especially if you have to convert the currency

- Kylie Cosmetics has sales during major holidays (Christmas, 4th of July) so this is the best time to make purchases

I am happy that I decided to order from Kylie Cosmetics and I definitely do not regret any of the purchases I made. I hope that this review has helped you decide what you should buy from Kylie Cosmetics. Let me know which shade was your favourite and what products you would like me to review next.

xoxo, Miss Makeup

If you would like to purchase from Kylie Cosmetics this website and Ulta Beauty are the only places that sell the real products. Be careful not to buy any fake products as they are very dangerous!
